The Fix for workstations dropping out of ZCC

Over the summer we had some workstations drop out of ZCC due to the workstations being offline for more than 30 days. By default ZCC deletes workstations that haven’t checked in after 30 days. The setting was changed to flag instead of remove a while back but it seems the workstations didn’t get the policy change in time. There are 2 ways to get the workstations back into ZCC. The first is to reimage them which may or may not work for you. The second is to run a program I wrote yesterday to re-register the workstations without having to reimage. You will just need to login to the workstation, run the program and let the workstation restart. You can run it directly from that server location or you can copy it to a flash drive and run it from there.

The program is located at \\ad.iusd.org\Public\Install\Ztoolkit\ZCM_IUSD_REREG.exe

There are a couple caveats though; this will only work for workstations previously imaged for ZENworks 10 at flipped sites, and if you run it on a workstation that exists already in ZCC you will break the existing relationship only to create a new one with the GUID attached to the end. If you look at my screen shot, you will see where I ran the program on it-mike-rack-01 and it-mike-w7-745. The names with the long GUID at the end are actually the current working objects in ZCC. To fix this, delete the duplicate WITHOUT the long name, then log into the workstation and refresh the Blue Z icon. The long name should fix itself within 15 minutes or so.
